About Me
I graduated from University of Birmingham in 2012 then completed an elective 5 week placement in Tanzania, Africa where I learnt quickly to become an adaptable clinician due to the limited resources and language barrier, I observed the different healthcare challenges faced in the country compared with the UK. This was an eye opening experience and has stayed with me throughout my subsequent clinical work.

I then took up a junior Physiotherapist (Band 5) post at Bedford Hospital for 2 ½ years rotating between different specialities in various settings including acute hospital, sub-acute inpatient rehab, outpatients & community work. This helped me develop my core Physiotherapy skills in assessment & treatment and also helped to confirm my dream of specialising in Neurological Physiotherapy.

I then progressed to a senior role (Band 6) in Sussex Community NHS Trust in the Stroke and Brain Injury Rehabilitation team where I realised the benefit of the flexibility of home based rehabilitation for neurological patients and continued to progress my specialist neurological skill set including therapeutic handling, spasticity management and complex seating assessment.

My love of travel and adventure took me to New Zealand in 2017 for a year working in Middlemore Hospital, Auckland. I spent most of my time there at the Auckland Spinal Injury Unit working solely in the rehabilitation of incomplete and complete spinal injuries which is one of my areas of special interest. There I gained valuable skills in motivational communication, patient education and realistic goal setting. I worked in a very culturally diverse area and these experiences still impact my current practice in my communication skills and cultural sensitivity.

I returned to the UK in 2019 and worked at Queens Hospital, Romford as part of the senior neurological rotations moving between neurosurgical wards, acute stroke unit, neurological outpatients and community Stroke rehab consolidating my neurological skills and progressing to managing junior members of staff, teaching, supervising assistants and leading service improvement projects.

My breadth of clinical experience in varying settings and countries makes me a well rounded, skilled practitioner. I can deliver safe, patient centred care with holistic assessment and treatments using excellent clinical reasoning skills. Due to my years of experience with Neurological patients I have developed excellent communication skills especially with patients that have speech, language or cognitive problems so I am able to easily build rapport and develop effective working relationships with the patient and others involved in their care. I also ensure my treatments are supported by up to date evidence and continually develop my practice with self directed learning, courses and study days.

I am more than aware of the emotional impact a neurological condition can have on a person’s life having experience of family members managing and living with spinal cord injury and a brain tumour diagnosis. This gives me empathy and compassion on a personal level when treating people with neurological conditions.
I decided to move to Cornwall and out of the NHS setting in 2022 to gain a healthier work life balance. I want to provide a bespoke, flexible service to people who require further rehabilitation in a local area that lacks provision of a comprehensive neuro rehab service. My passions are surfing, swimming, yoga and hiking. I also do voluntary work for brain tumour charities, environmental conservation and bereavement support.
I can’t wait to meet you and start working together!
